About J.J. Gregg!
Born in central Illinois, J.J. Gregg began musical training with the piano at age 8, followed by playing the French horn and piano in school jazz bands and orchestras, and years of writing and performing with his experimental rock band. In 2000 Gregg moved to Pune, India on a study abroad program and met internationally renowned sitar player Ustad Usman Khan. For the past 14 years he has studied sitar under Khan at Naad Mandir, traveling to back to Pune 7 times. In August 2013 Gregg came back from a year studying and living in Pune and Mumbai, India. Prior to this trip, J.J. Gregg lived in Athens for three years, working with Kids on Campus, the Westside Community Garden, and developing a passion for growing garlic. Gregg has performed in the US, India, and Thailand.
